The Asianet Film Awards is an award ceremony for Malayalam films presented annually by Asianet, a Malayalam-language television network from the south-Indian state of Kerala. Asianet says that awards ceremony has been instituted to honour both artistic and technical excellence in the Malayalam language film industry. But recently the ceremony is a matter of controversy among film lovers of kerala. According to them, the awards are predetermined on the basis of star value, money and popularity irrespective of talents . People of popular movie discussion groups in social media are quoting Asianet Awards as ' adjustment award'. Some even says that if an actor or technician didn't get Asianet Awards,that will be the best recognition he can ever get. The awards ceremony was co-sponsored by Ujala but the 2016 function was sponsored by Nirapara. and normally held in Kochi and Thiruvanathapuram city, Kerala.
